The Korean car brand KG Mobility (formerly SsangYong Motor) made a huge statement by displaying its models at this year’s Seoul Mobility Show (SMS) by displaying several of its models.

Chief among these is the Torres EVX, the Torres TX, a pickup truck version of the Torres EVX, and a new concept car.
If one remembers, the Torres was the last SsangYong branded model, and it sports an assertive design that’s combined with a feature-filled interior. At the 2023 SMS, however, the Torres EVX stands out as it looks nothing like its other variant siblings.

For starters, it ditches the angular and aggressive looks of the regular Torres for a smoother, more elegant design. This is particularly apparent in its closed-off grille and its thinner faux skid plate.
The brand didn’t reveal much about the Torres EVX’s specs for now, but judging by the name and the design, there’s a good chance that it’s an electric vehicle (EV).
Another eye-catching display from KG Motor is a yellow-colored pickup truck. This is a derivative of the Torres crossover and its front end bears exactly the same design as the Torres EVX specifically. Again, not much was revealed about this vehicle.

Next up is a beefy-looking SUV that sports all-terrain tires, a closed-off front end that’s dominated by lighting fixtures, and high ground clearance. These indicate that this concept is an off-road capable EV vehicle.
The other KG Mobility vehicle on display at the 2023 SMS was the Torres TX. This is closer to the original SsangYong Torres and gets the same body shape, the same slatted front grille, and identical LED daytime running lamps. The Torres TX, however, does get some additions like a beefy-looking roof rack and side-mounted cargo pods.
For those uninformed, SsangYong’s name change to KG Mobility was initially reported back in January 2023. At the time, the switch wasn’t set in stone as the new name still needed approval from shareholders.

SsangYong’s official name change to KG Mobility was also made possible when South Korean conglomerate KG Group acquired the car maker. This also came after the approval of SsangYong’s corporate rehabilitation plan to fix its bankruptcy woes.
Are you looking forward to KG Mobility Corporation’s’ future offerings? Will it make sense for this Korean car brand to enter the Philippine market?
