Chung has risen progressively on the automotive media brand’s Power List over the years. His first appearance was at number 12 in 2018, followed by a fifth place finish in 2022.
Now, the award reflects the Hyundai executive’s leadership efforts in making the brand achieve greater heights. MotorTrend named Chung ‘Person of the Year’ for “leading Hyundai Motor Group into a new age.” It also recognized the models that the Group has launched, describing them as “eye-catching, quality, cleverly packaged, and good value.”
One of these models is the Hyundai Ioniq 5, an all-electric compact crossover. So much so that it won MotorTrend’s 2023 SUV of the Year award, with the Genesis G90 bagging the 2023 Car of the Year award. Soon, we will get to see the award-winning Ioniq 5 in metal as it is slated to make its Philippine debut this January.

“The man and his vision, and the juggernaut that his company is becoming, loom loud and large. For his vision and leadership, then, Euisun Chung is our 2023 MotorTrend Person of the Year,” added the automotive media brand.
