Fuso Canter Express modern PUV gets 8.8 km/l fuel economy

Operators can save Php 6.3 per km as compared to traditional jeepneys, according to Fuso.

Observed and certified by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the Canter Express Modern PUV (Class 3) managed to deliver an 8.8 km/l fuel efficiency rating. It was completed in over 152.7 km of road test under actual PUV operating conditions such as transporting passengers.

“Moving forward, today’s activity is for us to testify the fuel efficiency of our product. Results will be included as part of the unique selling point and advantage of Fuso vehicles. We assure you that Fuso is ready to provide the best quality and hassle-free transportation to Filipino across the country,” said SFP President and CEO Mr. Yosuke Nishi.

In comparison to a traditional jeepney that can do 5.2 km/l, Fuso PH said that operators may save up to Php 6.3 per kilometer with its modern PUV. Moreover, the modern PUV’s fuel efficiency rating sits above the six to seven km/l benchmark based on the survey among modern PUV drivers.

Powering the Canter Express Modern PUV (Class 3) is a 3.0-liter 4P10-KAT2 turbodiesel engine with 129 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. The Express variant is capable of seating up to 24 passengers, offering in-car features such as an air conditioner, CCVT cameras, and passenger cabin TV, among others.

 “The goal of this activity is to demonstrate the Unique Selling Point (USP) of our PUVs, which is fuel efficiency and vehicle performance. Our initiative is to showcase the efficiency of our vehicles under normal driving conditions for the benefit of operators and drivers,” said SFP Executive Vice President Noriyuki Sekita.

One fuel-efficient modern PUV

SFP has been expanding the network of its modern PUVs since Nishi took office last April. The company turned over four Canter Commute Modern PUV (Class 2) units to On-Us Solutions, Inc., serving the Cubao-Divisoria route. It also made its presence known in the Visayan region by turning over modern PUVs to a transport group in Cebu.
