Ferrari was never going to take coming onslaughts from Porsche without striking back.
Since 2015, Ferrari has launched the 488 GTB super car, the Spider and other racing versions. However, it seems that car enthusiasts have been waiting for the heir to the 458 Speciale – the 488 GTO. This name sounds quite familiar as it’s similar to the 288 GTO which is based on the 308 GTB and also paired with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

The Gran Turismo Omologato name also has a connection with the 599 GTO and the legendary 250 GTO, but the 488 GTO has been dramatically improved with less weight and more power. This distinguished technology is taken from the 360 Challenge Stradale, through the 430 Scuderia, and the 458 Speciale.

The equipment on the cabin is also very noticeable, including a stripped-out cockpit and a thinner glass. Alongside, a beefed-up suspension and brakes facilitate the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.7 seconds.

According to car news, the reason for this 488 GTO’s enhancement is that the Italian carmaker wants to beat one of its biggest rivals – the upcoming Porsche 911 GT2 RS which will debut in 2018.
