Chery PH to launch electrified Tiggo 5X at 2023 MIAS?

Chery Auto Philippines has teased yet another electrified entry for the upcoming 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

Based on the teaser photo, this vehicle could be the Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid. The company remains mum regarding the details about this model so let’s check out its global specs to see what we can expect.

With the Tiggo 5X getting the Pro badge, the subcompact crossover flaunts a new and sleeker styling similar to the Pro models such as the Tiggo 2 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Pro. It is designed with the brand’s galaxy-inspired grille, sharper wheels, and a sportier-looking rear end.

But perhaps the most significant update is found under the hood. Looking at the global specs, the vehicle uses a 1.5-liter TCI hybridized power unit capable of generating 160 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

A new electrified Chery crossover is around the corner

Thanks to the hybrid system, the crossover should receive improvements in the performance department with the assistance of an electric motor. Moreover, the system should also enhance fuel efficiency.

If Chery Auto Philippines has plans to bring the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid to the local market, it will join the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV as the company’s hybridized offerings. The latter comes with a plug-in hybrid system capable of offering an 80 to 95 km pure electric vehicle (EV) range.

Another model that could be unveiled at the 2023 MIAS is the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV following a recent teaser photo released late last month. As a point of reference, while no official details have been disclosed, the China-spec Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV uses a 1.5-liter mill with dual electric motors, delivering a total output of 322 horsepower and 545 Nm of torque.
