This makes it the top-ranking Chinese brand for car exports.

In 2021, the China-based Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. managed to sell a total of 961,000 car units globally. A huge chunk of those was sold in its home country, while around 269,000 were exported to other markets including the Philippines.

Of note, this means that the automaker has increased its year-on-year sales figures by 31 percent. The brand then claims that this growth is the fastest-growing among China-based car brands. Its total sales numbers last year also place it as the top-ranking Chinese carmaker in terms of exports for the 19th year.

The total sales figures for Chery in 2021 is supported by the fact that the brand sold 739,730 in the first 10 months of that year. The previous report also details Chery’s number of exports as of October 2021

With that said, the brand has performed remarkably despite the several factors hamstringing the car industry in the global market. One of these factors is of course the COVID-19 pandemic, while another is the continuing global chip shortages

According to reports, Chery’s success is attributed to its affordable but feature-packed models. The “Pro” series of models are also popular due to their modern styling, and premium-feeling interiors. Most of the brand’s models are also crossovers, a car type that is arguably the hottest in the global market right now.

Locally, Chery, which is under the management of the United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), currently offers a total of six crossover models. This includes the Tiggo 2 and the Tiggo 2 Pro subcompact crossovers, the Tiggo 5X compact crossover, the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 7 Pro compact crossovers, as well as the seven-seater Tiggo 8.

Like we’ve said, the said models are affordable. For instance, the most expensive Chery PH model which is the Tiggo 8 comes with a price ranging from Php 1,280,000 to Php 1,340,000. The least expensive model meanwhile, ranges from Php 695,000 to Php 770,000.
