The new toll rates were approved by the Toll Regulatory Board

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved the toll hike proposal for the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX).

If you regularly use CAVITEX then you should take note of this price hike

Starting on the midnight of August 21, 2023, motorists under Class 1 plying CAVITEX heading to Baclaran and vice versa, will now pay an additional Php 2.00. Class 1 vehicles traveling from Kawit to Bacoor (and vice versa) will, in turn, pay an extra Php 9.00.

For your convenience, here are the new toll rates for CAVITEX (note that these rates are VAT-inclusive).

Class 1

Php 73.00

Class 2

Php 146.00

Class 3

Class 1

Php 35.00

Class 2

Php 70.00

Class 3

Php 104.00

This toll adjustment was borne out of the 2017 periodic toll petition which was filed by the CAVITEX Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), along with the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) as its joint partner.

The proposal stipulates that it is the right of the CIC and the PRA that CAVITEX toll rates may be changed periodically every three years.

In justifying the toll hike, the CIC and PRA say that both have continuously enhanced and maintained CAVITEX. Their projects include the laying of asphalt overlay over the entire stretch of the highway, the widening of several bridges, the construction of the Pacific fly-over and the Marina left turning facility, and other regular heavy maintenance works. The two entities have also worked hard in enhancing the thoroughfare’s toll-collection system

In light of the toll rate adjustment, CIC will reactivate the “Abante Card Program.” Under this, public utility drivers, including jeepneys, buses, UV Express, etc., will be able to enjoy the old toll rates for up to three months. All they need to do is go through a simple RFID enrollment process.
