Alpine launches the iLX-107, the first wireless CarPlay receiver.
If your beloved car’s audio system does not allow Apple CarPlay but you have an iPhone, you no longer have to wait for your car maker to give an update or purchase another vehicle to enjoy the full level of connectivity. Alpine, the Japanese audio company, has introduced the iLX-107, the first CarPlay receiver with support for wireless connectivity.

The iLX-107 is a 7-inch display which lets Apple CarPlay be accessed via a 5 gigahertz Wi-Fi signal. To use, owners can simply follow the directions below:
- Find the signal coming from the said display
- Sync the iLX-107 with your iPhone’s CarPlay menu
- Once connected, all functions including phone calls, Google Maps, messaging, iTunes and even Siri will be displayed

Now, you will get the full CarPlay experience: get real-time traffic updates, make calls, choose music, read texts. The best thing is that you can simply connect your iPhone via Bluetooth or WiFi without any cable needed.
The iLX-107 price at launch is $900. However, for that kind of money, do you think that it would probably make more sense to buy another smartphone, as long as your car is already compatible with Android AutoPlay?
