All-new Subaru XV Hybrid 2018 to debut soon, utilizing Toyota Hybrid System

The all-new Subaru XV Hybrid 2018 (also dubbed Crosstrek Hybrid in several markets) is announced to make its debut soon as the first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) of Subaru. The car was born to be an outstanding hybrid which showcases a great on-road performance but is still environmentally-friendly.

The new hybrid is planned to be debuted in the US in late 2018 and will be armed with the direct-injection Boxer powertrain of Subaru, driven by Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Especially, this Subaru car will come with the unique plug-in hybrid tech from Toyota.

Still, there hasn’t any official information about the output figures of the hybrid engine but it is expected to crank out slightly more torque and horsepower than the standard model. For now, the updated 2.0L Boxer powertrain is capable of doling out 154 ho and 196 Nm of torque. Besides, the hybrid variant will be equipped with a new transmission which is predicted to be a CTV geared particularly for hybrid use.

Subaru also informed that the Subaru XV Hybrid 2018 would get its own special style to make it different from the standard models. According to the latest car news, it is still unsure if the XV Hybrid 2018 will be available elsewhere apart from the US market.
