The car brand previously said that it will be arriving in the country by January 2024.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines will hold the local preview of the all-new Triton pickup truck tomorrow. This follows the car brand’s initial announcement last August, where it said that it would be dropping the Strada name and use the Triton monicker moving forward for its midsize pickup truck.

Mitsubishi PH also confirmed during its 66th Anniversary Expo that the all-new Triton will be arriving in the country by January 2024. The Triton is set to go up against its segment rivals in the Philippines such as the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, and Isuzu D-Max, among others.

The all-new Triton first debuted in Bangkok, Thailand last July 2023. The said truck is now in its sixth generation model, and Mitsubishi has fully redesigned the Triton for the first time in nine years. Based on the product concept "Power for Adventure," the all-new Triton is revamped from the ground up, featuring a new design.

When it comes to the exterior, the all-new Triton follows Mitsubishi’s Beast Mode design concept, which gives the pickup truck an imposing and assertive demeanor. It comes with a restyled version of the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield grille that’s complemented with three-bar LED daytime running lights, prominent fender flares, and T-shaped taillights at the rear.

Of note, the 2024 Triton comes with new exterior color options: Yamabuki Orange Metallic and Blade Silver Metallic.

The all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton’s new exterior design was recently awarded with Good Design Award in Japan. Other Mitsubishi vehicles, such as the Xforce and Delica Mina, were also given the said accolade.

The cabin features a straightforward dashboard layout that’s highlighted by horizontal lines, creating a robust interior finish. It also comes with a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a wireless charger. We do hope that these features will also be offered in the PH-spec all-new Triton.

Aside from aesthetic enhancements, Mitsubishi said that the sixth-generation Triton is fitted with a newly developed suspension that provides better ride comfort and steering stability. The rear suspension is said to offer greater ride comfort as compared to the outgoing model as it uses a lighter leaf spring system together with thicker shock absorbers.

The Thai-spec 2024 Mitsubishi Triton is equipped with advanced driver assistance tech such as adaptive cruise control, rear automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition system, and front-cross traffic alert system, among others.

Under the hood, the all-new Triton is powered by a new 2.4-liter turbodiesel 4N16 engine which comes in three different power outputs. The high-output version delivers 201 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque while the other two power outputs are as follows: 181 hp and 430 Nm; 148 hp and 330 Nm. The all-new Triton comes with either a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.

Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II is equipped with the 4x4 Triton model. It gets four different drivetrain modes: a rear-wheel-drive mode, a four-high (4H) mode, a four-high mode with a locked differential (4HLc), and a four-low mode w/ locked differential (4LLc).
