350 delegates will be traveling to and from the venue.

The 55th Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors is currently underway and it is taking place at the ADB Headquarters in Ortigas Center from September 26, 2022 to September 30, 2022. This is in a typical busy area, especially on the weekdays.

As reported by MMDA Acting Chairman Dimayuga III, the MMDA together with the Philippine National Police (PNP) will continue to monitor the said event to ensure that it remains organized until its culmination on Friday.

Besides the PNP, personnel from the Bureau of Fire, the Office of Civil Defense, and the Department of Health are also put on standby. The MMDA’s very own Road Emergency Group is also deployed during the event to provide further assistance.

Also pitching in are the Ortigas Center security forces, as well as a number of traffic enforcers from the governments of Mandaluyong City and Pasig City.

As mentioned, the MMDA’s lion’s share of contributions comes in the form of around 500 personnel. These enforcers will be deployed on the aforementioned ADB route, which consists of a special lane along Saint Francis and at Bank Drive in Ortigas. Other areas where the 350 delegates will pass will be manned as well.

The tasks assigned to the deployed MMDA personnel will of course concern traffic management, though some will also be assigned to CCTV monitoring, road safety, road clearing, and traffic management. And if needed, they will also deal with flood mitigation and emergency response and preparedness.

Several units of the MMDA emegency response teams are also present at the event

Being that these are foreign delegates coming into the country via air travel, the EDSA Carousel Lane will also be utilized as a path towards the meeting location, as well as their respective hotels.

Of note, the personnel that was deployed will remain on their posts during the length of the event. In that vein, let us hope that all of these are enough to prevent another carmageddon on adjacent roads. Do remember that the area where the meeting takes place is straddled by a busy section of EDSA and a portion of the C5 road.
