Meet Team Toyota Philippines

Entering this e-racing championship for Team Toyota Philippines are three racers selected from the winners of the TGR GT Cup Philippine national leg.

Estefano Rivera is among the country’s virtual racers participating in the 2022 TGR GT Asia Regional Finals. He won the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup’s Super Sport Class last 2021, and was also the 2019 National Slalom Championship winner.

Another team member is Russel Reyes, an e-motorsports veteran who previously participated in the 2021 Asian Endurance Series, as well as the GSR E-Motorsports Series.

And finally, Topher Tejada, who while relatively new to e-motorsports, has already proved his abilities by placing first in the promotional class of the 2022 TGR GT Cup’s local championship.

That’s the Philippine team, but how about the race? Well, the TGR GT Cup Asia Regional leg will have a semifinal round, and a finals round. In the semifinals, a total of 20 competitors will face off in Gran Turismo’s faithful recreation of the Fuji International Speedway using an equally accurate digital version of the Toyota GR Yaris.

The top 5 racers from the aforementioned round will then make it to the finals round. The final battle will then commence starting on the Circuit de Barcelona using the GR Supra 20, followed by a race on the iconic Nürburgring using the GR Supra GT4, and finally on the Circuit De La Sarthe with the GR010 Hybrid HyperCar.

But while all racers will be using the same cars for each respective round, players are allowed to don decals as a nod to their respective cultures and national colors. This adds more color to the competition, and it will also aid viewers in identifying the racers as well.

For Team Toyota Philippines, their Gran Turismo rides will be decked up with a special livery designed by Filipino graphic artist Nez Yumul. The said livery is inspired by the Philippine flag, combined with the visual flare of Philippine festivals.
