On paper, the Jimny 5-Door is an improvement over the Jimny 3-Door version, particularly for its rear cabin accessibility. But the question now is, which variant should you buy? Well, let’s answer that by comparing all three 2024 Suzuki Jimny 5-Door trims.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Variants: Exterior

To begin this variant comparison, let’s talk about the Jimny 5-Door’s exterior features. Up front, only the GLX and GLX Two-Tone are equipped with automatic LED projector headlamps. The GLX trims are also the only versions that get a lamp washer. In turn, the entry-level GL sports a pair of halogen headlamps. Standard on all trims meanwhile, are front foglamps.

Over to the side, the GLX versions get electronic-folding side mirrors that are colored black. The GL has manual-folding side black plastic mirrors. All trims do get black plastic fender flares and a set of 15-inch alloy wheels.

The rear section of the Jimny 5-Door is also uniform across all three variants. All get a rear window demister, a rear wiper, and LED taillights.

These are Sizzling Red Metallic combined with Bluish Black Pearl, and Chiffon Ivory Metallic combined with Bluish Black Pearl. The rest of the trims use a mono-tone color scheme that may come in Jungle Green, Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic, Arctic White Pearl, or Granite Gray Metallic.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Variants: Interior

On the inside, there are several variances between the GL and the GLX trims. For starters, the GL gets a simpler manual air-conditioning system, whereas the GLX variants come with automatic air-conditioning. All interior door cards on the GLX trims also get silver door latches, while the GL gets black-colored latches.

Handling safety for all three Jimny 5-Door variants are dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock braking, stability control, reverse parking sensors, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, a reverse parking camera, and an engine immobilizer.

Only the GLX and GLX Two-Tone come with a seat-belt reminder for the rear cabin, front side airbags, curtain airbags, and a shift lock and key interlock. For those unaware, a key interlock device prevents the vehicle’s gear lever from going out of “park” unless the driver applies the brakes.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Variants: Conclusion

Picking the right Jimny 5-Door variant to buy is pretty straightforward. If you really like to row through gears or can tolerate a good leg workout in the traffic, go for the GL. It is the only trim with a manual gearbox, after all.

Then again, the GL misses out on the extras that are only present on the GLX variants. The biggest of these is a larger touchscreen, which may or may not positively impact legibility. Also, the GLX variants have more airbags which can make them safer in a crash.

The GLX variants have more airbags and a better central touchscreen display.

If a manual is a no-go for you, you’d be better off with the GLX trims which exclusively come with automatic transmissions. And for those who want a little more visual impact out of the Jimny 5-Door, there’s the GLX Two-Tone version. The catch with the Two-Tone trim though, is that it carries a Php 10,000 premium over the monotone GLX.

For those serious about getting the 2024 Suzuki Jimny 5-Door though, it will be ideal to take all of its variants for a test drive.
