The Mitsubishi Adventure, otherwise known as the Freeca in other parts of Asia, is a compact MPV that’s very familiar with Filipinos. It is one of the most recognizable vehicles here in the country due to its relatively affordable price and of course for its legendary versatility and durability.
First introduced in September 1997, here in the Philippines, the Adventure MPV has been given numerous redesigns back in 2001, 2004 and a facelift in 2009. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines also began to manufacture the vehicle here in the country in March 2005.
The Mitsubishi Adventure is powered by either a diesel or petrol 2.5-liter inline-4 engine which is then connected to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic. Power is then sent to the rear wheels.
The interior of the Adventure might not be up to par with more modern MPVs but it offers quite a lot of headroom and legroom even for larger individuals. It can also comfortably seat up to seven people and its rearmost bench seats can be folded for a massive amount of cargo space.
Production for the vehicle, however, ended on December 2017 due to its engine being only Euro-2 compliant. As such, its place on the Philippine Auto market has been replaced by the now popular and equally affordable Mitsubishi Xpander. As for its competitors, the Mitsubishi AUV went against the likes of the Toyota Innova, the Toyota Revo, and the Isuzu Crosswind.
The Philippine version of the Mitsubishi Adventure comes in four variants:
- Mitsubishi Adventure GX
- Mitsubishi Adventure GLX
- Mitsubishi GLS Sport
- Mitsubishi Super Sport
