Hyundai Motor Company has officially revealed the 2024 Staria Hybrid. For now, the all-new version of the Korean brand’s people carrier is available in its home country of South Korea.
The 2024 Hyundai Staria Hybrid Tourer
As per its name, this version of the Hyundai Staria is equipped with a hybrid engine that promises better efficiency and performance. It does get the same styling cues as the regular internal combustion-only (ICE) version, but it was disclosed that it is sold in three variants.
There’s a roomy nine to 11-seater version called the Staria Tourer, and a simpler commercial-grade three-seater version dubbed the Staria Cargo.
So what can buyers expect out of the Staria hybrid? Let’s find out.
Exterior
Where styling is concerned, the Hyundai Staria Hybrid is pretty much a dead ringer for its globally available ICE sibling. Well, save for the fact that it doesn’t get the fancy bronze bits found on the locally available top-spec Staria Premium.

Up front, the hybrid minivan model retains the eye-catching LED daytime running lamp strip and the same sizable mesh grille that encompasses most of the vehicle’s nose. The Tourer variant is also kitted out with LED headlamps, while the Cargo gets halogen headlamps.
From the side, the Tourer variant gets power sliding doors (optional) and power-folding side mirrors. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels that carry a different design than the locally available version. Its rear likewise sports the same elongated rectangular LED taillights, and a power tailgate is optional.

Size-wise, the Staria Hybrid has the same as the locally available version. Its Tourer variant is 5,255mm long, 1,990mm wide, and 1,995mm in height. The Staria Hybrid Cargo shares the same length and width as the Tourer, but it is 2,000mm in height.
Interior
Inside, the 2024 Hyundai Staria Hybrid may come in a nine-seater or 11-seater configuration. The one with the larger occupant capacity gets an additional fourth row, which sacrifices trunk space.

As for the front cabin, it is pretty much identical to the locally available Staria, but it does get different displays for keeping track of parameters related to its hybrid powertrain.
Cooling for all occupants is provided by an automatic climate control system. The seats on both the Tourer and Cargo trims are wrapped in fabric, and its driver gets a central armrest, a multi-function steering wheel, and a push-to-start button, among other amenities.
Optional cargo ramp
Also introduced together with the Staria Hybrid are genuine accessories intended for the Cargo trims. These include a handy sliding cargo bed, a luggage partition table, and a multi-purpose hanger. Also available is a new Hyundai-branded folding chair, a set of vehicle protection films, and a detachable headrest for children. An optional sunroof is also available for the Tourer trim.
Tech & Safety
Places on the dashboard of the Staria Hybrid is a 10.25-inch touchscreen that features the Hyundai CarPay app which allows for easy transactions for gas and parking fees. It also gets the new Kato Home software, which can remotely control the smart Hyundai home appliances in one’s home. The screen can also function as a communication aid between the front driver and the rear passengers.

For safety, the Hyundai Staria Hybrid gets a total of seven airbags, and the optional Hyundai Safe Exit Assistance feature. The latter automatically detects if a vehicle is approaching the rear when the vehicle is stopped.
Those are further reinforced by the Hyundai SmartSense driver assist safety suite (ADAS). This includes forward collision avoidance, highway driving assist, rear collision prevention, intelligent speed limit assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, driver attention warning, rear-cross traffic collision prevention, and a 360-degree view monitor.

Powertrain
Propelling the 2024 Hyundai Staria Hybrid is a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engine that’s combined with an electric motor.
Alone, the new model’s ICE component can churn out 177 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. The electric motor meanwhile, can put out up to 72 hp and 304 Nm of torque. According to Hyundai, this chalks up to a combined output of 242 hp.
Price
According to the official South Korean Hyundai website, the Staria Hybrid Touerer starts at 36,530,000 won. As per current exchange rates, that’s equivalent to around Php 1.5 million. Note though that this figure is before taxes, and it does not cover a variety of optional items.
