Many applauded Toyota Motor Corporation after refining the all-new GR 86 in terms of design and performance. The Toyota GR 86 comes with a more upscaled sports car appearance, as well as a new and larger 2.4-liter boxer four engine that generates more power at 232 hp and 249 Nm of torque.
Toyota GR 86 with the Gazoo Racing parts
But the Japanese automaker is not done bolstering the new GR 86. Now, the sports car can be further improved with the Gazoo Racing aerodynamic parts. Not only do these provide a sportier finish to the design, but also enhance the aerodynamics and maneuverability to deliver a better performance.
According to Toyota, the Gazoo Racing aero parts were developed through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), a method of calculating the airflow by applying digital wind to a digital vehicle on a computer. It is the same approach used when developing Super GT vehicles. As a result, the most optimized shapes were applied to the aero parts.
Subtle GR enhancements in the interior
The Gazoo Racing aero parts offer a wide array of GR-exclusive products including a front spoiler or lip, canard, 19-inch aluminum wheels, side skirt, rear bumper spoiler, sports muffler with a quad exhaust layout, and trunk spoiler or wing. Performance upgrades are also in the mix such as GR brake pads, GR coil springs, GR shock absorbers, among others.
As for the interior, there are few options GR 86 owners can avail of. A GR interior panel set with a marble carbon pattern is available for the console, door panels, and dash. Other products include a GR knee pad, LED room lamp set, GR sunshade, and aramid fiber key cover.
A more capable sports car
The Gazoo Racing Aerodynamic Package is available in Japan (excluding 19-inch wheels and performance upgrades) with a price tag of 380,600 Yen (or around Php 169,000). It can be bought at a lower price at 361,900 Yen (or around Php 160,000), but the aero parts don’t come painted.
