Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced the turnover of two Coaster units to the Gilas Pilipinas national basketball team.
TMP continues to support the national team
As a proud partner of the national basketball team, TMP can aid the mobility needs of Gilas Pilipinas with the turned-over units. The Coaster comes with a 29-seating configuration, ideal to move the team’s players and coaches during its stint at the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
Present in the turnover ceremony were members of TMP and Gilas Pilipinas including TMP Vice President for Marketing Services Elvin Luciano and team manager Butch Antonio. They were joined by Gilas players AJ Edu, Jamie Malonzo, Kiefer Ravena, Dwight Ramos, and June Mar Fajardo.
The Toyota Coaster is a minibus that spans 6,990 mm in length, 2,080 mm in width, and 2,635 mm in height and has a wheelbase that measures 3,935 mm long. Exterior-wise, the vehicle comes with multi-reflector halogen headlamps, an auto folding center door with a buzzer, and 17-inch wheels.

Inside, members of the team get to sit on fabric seats, with the driver and front passenger benefiting from high back seats. Other interior amenities include a four-speaker audio system, a two-spoke urethane steering wheel, a standard mic, an amplifier, a digital clock, a manual airconditioning system, PVC front floor mats, and vinyl rear mats.
Powering the Coaster is a 4.0-liter N04C-VQ inline-four turbodiesel engine capable of generating 133 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. Drivers who will ensure the players and coaches will arrive at the stages safely will have to work around a five-speed manual transmission.
Co-hosted by the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be held from August 25 to September 10 at various venues including the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Aside from being Gilas Pilipinas’ official mobility partner, TMP is also one of the local event sponsors of the upcoming tournament.
