This is according to J.D. Power’s Tech Experience Index.

The US-based consumer market analytics company, J.D. Power, has hailed Hyundai as the overall innovation leader in the US mass market segment for 2023. It has achieved this accolade for the fourth year in a row.

Officially known as the U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI), Hyundai has previously topped this study from 2019 to 2022. Specifically, the Hyundai Kona had top marks in the 2019 study, while the Elantra won an award for its front cross-traffic warning safety feature in 2021.

The said study measures the quality and innovation of onboard vehicle technologies as it is introduced to the market. It follows the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) and the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) studies, both of which were also topped by Hyundai in the US for 2023.

The study measures the overall ranks via a 1,000-point scale. Hyundai managed to get a score of 547 in the mass market segment. This is then followed by Kia at 528, GMC at 505, Ram at 483, Subaru at 481, and Chevrolet at 480.

Besides the overall rankings, J.D. Power’s TXI Study has four major sub-categories, each with a corresponding award for a particular advanced feature. This includes Convenience, Emerging Automation, Energy and Sustainability, and Infotainment and Connectivity.

Hyundai was given the Emerging Automation award for its rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist system. This safety technology is present in the 2023 Palisade and it aids drivers in avoiding objects when backing up. It provides a warning when a rearward object is detected, and it automatically applies braking when it detects that a collision is imminent.

The Korean brand also received the Infotainment & Connectivity award for its phone-based digital key for the 2023 Hyundai Sonata. This in turn allows owners to remotely start their cars. It can also remotely control a vehicle’s climate control system, side mirror position, driver seat adjustment, etc.

Of the two award-winning Hyundai vehicles from the 2023 J.D. Power TXI, only the Hyundai Palisade is available in the Philippines. The locally available version also has the rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist system, and it is currently priced at Php 3.780 million.
