Here's your guide to lower fuel prices near Metro Manila

We take a look at a few places just beyond the capital’s boundaries.

It’s not unusual to see successive fuel price hikes at this time of year, since demand for oil typically rises during the winter months in temperate countries. However, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is driving oil prices even more upward, and the effects are being felt at the pumps.

The recent oil price hikes have made motorists even more eager to seek cheaper alternatives

Even if the Philippines has very little trade relations with either country, we’re no stranger to the sudden price surge in petroleum products. The timing leaves much to be desired too, considering that we’re only just emerging from COVID-19 lockdowns in the last two years.

The resulting vehicular traffic in Metro Manila will be a bane for fuel-conscious motorists, leading them to look for places with relatively lower gas prices. We’ve come up with a list of possible areas near the metropolis that weary gearheads in search of cheaper fuel might want to check out.

Keep in mind that this compilation is by no means exhaustive and is based on pricing data from the Department of Energy (DOE) as of March 1, 2022, to which we’ve factored in the most recent fuel price increase last March 8 amounting to Php 3.6 for gasoline and Php 5.85 for diesel. Actual prices may differ after this article has been published.
