Grab Philippines rolled out the second leg of its GrabCar-Avan last March 4, which saw the attendance of almost a thousand TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Service) applicants.

According to the ride-hailing company, the reasons for the high number of attendees were the removal of the Certificate of Conformity (COC) and the recently-opened 4,000 TNVS slots.
COC was a requirement by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) that allows individuals to register their loaned vehicle for TNVS franchise application. One of the financing institutions available is Toyota Financial Services (TFS).
For fully-paid vehicles, a bank-issued COC wasn’t necessary.
With the removal of COC, the application process becomes more seamless. TNVS applicants are no longer required to submit a COC after the passing of LTFRB’s Board Resolution No. 005 Series of 2023 last March 2, 2023.
Grab makes the application process easier
Meanwhile, the 4,000 TNVS were opened by the government agency last January 9.
One of the applicants was 52-year-old age Gregorio Garcia, a GrabCar driver-partner since 2016. Thanks to Grab’s partnership with TFS, he bought a car last January, which was used to process his TNVS franchise as the owner.
Now, Garcia plans on getting another unit to rent out to his fellow TNVS drivers. In turn, Grab Philippines can bolster its commitment to enriching the lives not only of its driver-partners but also commuters.
“We thank the LTRFB for making it easier for more Filipinos to earn an equitable living through ride-hailing – and it is clearly manifested with the outpouring of applicants from our recent GrabCar-Avan,” said Grab Philippines Senior Director for Operations Ronald Roda.
“We are optimistic that through this development and programs such as GrabCar-Avan, we are taking the right step towards providing more livelihood in the ride-hailing sector, while offering our commuters with safe, reliable, and more affordable means of mobility for their everyday needs,” added Roda.
