The all-new mid-size Mazda EZ-6 debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, and it is poised to be an electric-powered successor to the Mazda6 sedan.

For now, no detailed technical specifications for this sleek and stylish electric vehicle (EV) have been revealed just yet, but it will be produced for the Chinese market through a joint venture with Changan. Also, it will be getting a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version with a range extender once its production run starts before year-end.

While we know next to little about the EZ-6, there’s already plenty to like about it. For starters, Mazda claims that it has a 50:50 weight distribution and a deployable rear spoiler which means crisp handling and stability. Furthermore, this Mazda will be rear-wheel-drive whilst utilizing a rear multi-link suspension.

Again, no exact performance numbers were provided, but the brand estimates that its EV version will provide up to 600 kilometers of range. The PHEV meanwhile, will have over 1,000 km of range from a single tank.

Appearance-wise, it uses the brand’s Kodo design language. This is quite apparent due to its razor-sharp headlamps combined with a bold-looking grille and smooth and fluid body lines.

The interior of the Mazda EZ-6 meanwhile, boasts smart cabin technology with large touchscreen infotainment systems that can be manipulated using voice or gestures.

Debuting alongside the Mazda EZ-6 is the Mazda Arata concept vehicle. This assumes a crossover SUV body style, and it is built on Mazda’s philosophy of “Uplifting the Human Spirit.”

Again, no specs for this concept vehicle were shared by the brand, but it appears to be the next step in the evolution of Mazda’s Kodo design language for crossovers. Particularly eye-catching on this concept is its thick and chunk D-pillar and its razor-thin LED lighting elements.

Going back to the Mazda EZ-6, we reckon that it’ll catch the eye of die-hards who do not want to switch over to crossover SUVs. It is essentially been shaped up to be a driving enthusiast’s ideal daily driver, right?
