Mitsubishi is launching an all-electric MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) concept ready at this year’s Japan Mobility Show (formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show). While we await the opening of the auto show this month, the Japanese automaker revealed a few details about the concept.
The Mitsubishi electrified crossover MPV concept
Looking at the new teaser photo, the concept is designed with a boxy silhouette. It almost looks reminiscent of the current fifth-generation Mitsubishi Delica. The MPV can be seen taking a sharp turn on sand terrain, which covered some of the exterior design details.
What we can see is the upper half portion, which shows huge panoramic windows like the ones in the Hyundai Staria. These are said to give a sense of openness ideal for adventure-minded individuals. Other exterior bits include thin taillights, an illuminated brand badge, and a massive roof rack.
Next-gen Mitsubishi Triton
Mitsubishi revealed the MPV concept comes with off-road-ready features such as a high ground clearance and an electric four-wheel-drive system. Moreover, the mystery vehicle is also said to offer the “cruising range and driving performance to handle all kinds of adventures.”
The automaker continued by saying, “Driver can enjoy the exhilarating driving experience of an electrified vehicle, and with the ability to switch driving modes as situation demands, there are no limits to the destinations it can reach.”
Last 1 mile Mobility
This concept will be joined at the Mitsubishi booth by the Delica D:5 support car from the 2023 Asia Cross Country Rally, a Delica D:5, and a Delica Mini. Other Mitsubishi entrants include such as the all-new Triton, the Outlander PHEV, the Eclipse Cross PHEV, the eK X EV, and the Last 1 mile Mobility.
The 2023 Japan Mobility Show will be happening from October 25 to November 5 at the Tokyo Big Sight in Japan. Fellow Japanese automakers Subaru and Suzuki will also introduce all-electric concepts including the Subaru Sport Mobility concept and the eVX crossover concept, respectively.
