The planned additional stations aim to make commuting easier.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) launched the EDSA Busway last July 2020 which aims to help transport commuters in Metro Manila amid the pandemic. Almost two years after its pilot launch, the DOTr is looking to add more EDSA Busway stations.

The DOTr said that it would add 11 more EDSA Busway stations to be able to make commuting more efficient and comfortable. Although, the agency has yet to release the completion dates in regards to the additional stations based on its recent announcement.

Despite that, the DOTr said that the commuting public should expect new EDSA Busway stations in the following areas:

- Tramo

- Taft

- Roxas Boulevard

- Magallanes

- Ormoc

- Kamuning/NIA

- Cubao

- Connecticut

- Greenfields

- Estrella

- Ayala

The EDSA Busway currently has 17 stations. The DOTr shared that 13 of the said stations are on the median or in the middle of EDSA. The stations classified under median are the following:

- Monumento

- Bagong Barrio

- Balintawak

- Kaingin

- Roosevelt

- North Avenue

- Quezon Avenue

- Nepa Q. Mart

- Main Avenue

- Santolan

- Ortigas

- Guadalupe

- Buendia

Meanwhile, there are four stations located on the curbside that includes the following: Ayala, Taft, Mall of Asia (MOA), and Macapagal. There’s also a station at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

The DOTr also said during the pilot launch that the EDSA Busway aims to cut travel time from Monumento to PITX to just 45 minutes to one hour. This is significantly faster compared to the usual two to three hours of travel time, according to the agency.

The innermost lane of EDSA is exclusively for buses, reducing travel time from north to south entry points (and vice versa) of the said thoroughfare. It was reported back in 2020 that the DOTr has procured 36,000 concrete barriers to separate the EDSA Busway.

Aside from the stations mentioned above, the DOTr is also working on the EDSA Busway Concourse project, consisting of three concourses, which are set to rise up in key locations along the said thoroughfare. This includes one at SM Megamall, one at the SM Mall of Asia, and another at SM North EDSA. Of note, SM Prime Holding, Inc. will fund the said project.
