The era of muscle cars is coming to an end.

Dodge is undoubtedly one of the frontrunners in the world of V8-roaring muscle cars. But due to the ever-changing car industry, the American automaker has to make significant adjustments in its portfolio including the discontinuation of its muscle cars in favor of an electrified lineup.

As a nod to the models that gave the brand its renowned identity, Dodge is releasing seven “Last Call” editions, with the Challenger Shakedown as the first. The Dodge Challenger Shakedown comes with cosmetic and aesthetic upgrades that have taken inspiration from the 1971 Challenger show car.

Exterior-wise, the vehicle is designed with a shakedown strip with red accents for added sportiness. It is matched with the red six-piston Brembo brakes, providing braking power on the 20-inch wheels. A cold-air-grabbing Mopar Shaker hood further underscores the muscle car nature of the first Last Call edition.

As for the interior, passengers get to sit on premium black Nappa/Alcantara seats paired with Demonic Red seatbelts. Like the exterior, the cabin comes with red accents in the form of stitching which are found on the instrument panel with the “Shakedown” badge, console, and steering wheel.

Since the special edition is based on the Challenger R/T Scat Pack, it should be powered by a 6.4-liter V8 Hemi engine. More powertrain details will be released later this year but the said power unit in the stock form makes 485 horsepower and 646 Nm of torque. Moreover, a Mopar Shake intake is part of the long list of upgrades.

The 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown is limited to 1,000 units only. 500 of which are in the R/T Scat Pack trim finished in Destroyer Grey, while the other half come in a wide-body configuration with a Pitch Black exterior paint. It is the first step of Dodge into rolling out electric vehicle (EV) models previewed by the electric Charger Daytona SRT Concept earlier this month.
