Chevrolet Philippines launched the Corvette to the Philippine market in November 2018 as a single variant model, 65 years after its initial release in the brand’s home country.
The Corvette C7 Stingray is the American brand’s entry to the highly-competed sports car segment in the local market. It is the seventh generation Corvette model released and was officially introduced during Chevrolet Philippines’ Motorama at a launch price of Php 8.5 million.
The overall sleek aesthetic of the Corvette C7 Stingray is brought about by the brand’s revamped design language. It boasts of a sharp yet flowing design that integrates aerodynamics and cooling components which contribute to the vehicle’s performance. Riding on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear black-painted aluminum wheels, the Corvette exudes power and style on the road.
Up front, the sports car is decked with a black high gloss grille and high-intensity discharge projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. On the rear are LED tail lamps and stop lamps. The carbon-fiber roof panel is removable for models released in the Philippines.
Matching the exterior’s aesthetic, the Corvette’s driver-oriented cockpit is polished with premium materials that make for a refined and comfortable experience. The interior panels, seats, and console are wrapped with custom leather with accents of suede microfiber inserts and red stitches.
Both driver and passenger get 8-way power driver seat adjusters while sitting on heated and ventilated position memory foam seats. The Corvette’s competition sports seats provide the utmost comfort for spirited drives.
Technology & Safety Features
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has a whole range of technological and safety features being a 3LT variant. It is equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system that is linked to the brand’s MyLink system which enables seamless connectivity with smartphones. Audio comes out of a 10-speaker Bose sound system.
At a glance, a projected display of the sports car’s real-time RPM, speed, fuel level, and more appear right on the windshield. Keeping track of real-time performance data has also been made easier through the Corvette Stingray’s data and video recorder.
Apart from this unique equipment, the sports car is also equipped with other Chevrolet signature safety features such as keyless entry, push-start system, StabiliTrak, anti-lock braking system, panic brake assist, curb view front camera, and reversing camera, to name a few.
Platform & Chassis
Chevrolet’s Corvette C7 Stingray was produced to be a cut above competing sports cars as its body is decked with lightweight composite materials plus a powerful engineered chassis. It rides on a Y-body platform matched with a fully independent suspension on all corners. This allows the driver to quickly switch among the five drive modes. The suspension also comes with an unequal length A-arm stabilizer bar for both front and rear. Stopping power comes from high-performance Brembo slotted ventilated discs on both the front and rear.
Engine & Drivetrain
Powering the Corvette Stingray is a 6.2L V8 OHV 16-valve VVT gasoline engine that produces 455 hp and 621 Nm of torque. The engine is attached to an 8-speed paddle-shift transmission with automatic modes that ensures the vehicle’s peak performance and smooth drive. Power is directed towards the rear wheels, adapting the brand’s traditional engine layout.
