MMPC unveils first ever Dendo Drive Station in the country

Power from the sun, straight to your EV/PHEV.

On April 18, 2022, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) officially took the covers off its flagship Dendo Drive Station for the local market. Of note, this facility is capable of charging electric cars and plug-in hybrids, and it is located at the Mitsubishi Manila Bay dealership in Pasay City.

MMPC didn’t go at this alone though. For starters, this initiative was done in partnership with the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) and its subsidiaries, as well as Peak Motors Philippines, Inc. (PMPI), the entity managing Mitsubishi Manila Bay, and a long-time dealer partner of MMPC.

Going back to the Dendo Drive Station itself, it is designed to work seamlessly with the Outlander PHEV. It then has two charging pods. One can be found inside the dealership’s showroom, and the other is positioned at its vehicle receiving area.

Beyond that however, it can also provide power to the facility during power outages. Simply speaking, it can also work as a back-up generator, and as a means of storing energy.

The Dendo Drive Station does this by getting power from the sun. Specifically, Mitsubishi Manila Bay now has a couple of solar panels positioned on its roof. This enables the Dendo Drive Station to reduce Mitsubishi Manila Bay’s reliance on the power grid.

Proliferation of the tech used in the Philippine’s first-ever Dendo Drive Station has some exciting implications for the future.

For instance, this might be able to pave the way for more Filipinos to adopt electric or electrified vehicles. This, we think, is inevitable as many car manufacturers have already dipped their hands deep into developing and selling more EVs in the coming years.

In the far future, someone might even be able to come up with something akin to the Dendo Drive Station for household use. Because who wouldn’t want to save on energy costs, right?
