Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) has been busy expanding the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) since its inception in 2017. In 2021 alone, the company turned over around 500 units of its modern public utility vehicle (PUV) to different areas including Tacloban City, Cavite, and Pangasinan.
Hyundai taps Sorsogon City for the expansion of the PUVMP
For this year, HARI is continuing its efforts to expand the PUVMP by targeting more key cities and provinces. Sorsogon is the latest to receive 15 units of Class 3 HD50S Modern PUVs which are managed by the Bulusan Transport Service Cooperative (BULTRASCO). The ceremony started at the Sorsogon Integrated Terminal Exchange (SITEX) and ended at Bulusan Terminal.
“Our Hyundai Modern PUV is a testament to our continuing mission of developing the transport sector through quality people movers that in turn upgrade the quality of lives of drivers and commuters alike,” said HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.
“With the nation’s transport sector and workplace joining hands to make commuting better and safer for the riding public, we can all contribute towards making opportunities for progress more attainable for the Filipino,” added Perez-Agudo.
A safe and convenient way of getting around town
The new Hyundai modern PUV units will be serving around the coastal towns of Bulusan, Barcelona, Gubat, and Sorsogon City. Thanks to the units’ modern features, both the locals and tourists will get a more comfortable and safer ride. Some of which include an air-conditioned cabin and a CCVT camera.
Bulusan Mayor Hon. Michael G. Guysayko also said that the modern PUVs will help boost tourism in Sorsogon by ‘providing safe and reliable access to the province’s famed tourist attractions.’
The modern PUVs are expected to boost tourism
Now that the Hyundai modern PUVs have been turned over, BULTRASCO is officially the fourth transport cooperative beneficiary of the PUVMP in the entire Bicol region. Last 2020, HARI turned over 23 of its modern PUVs to the Tabaco-Legazpi Transport Cooperative (TALETRANSCO) of Albay Province.
