Hyundai, Kia renews longtime partnership with football body FIFA

Continuing the two-decades-long relationship. 

The Hyundai Motor Group affiliates, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have renewed their partnerships with the football governing body FIFA. This relationship between the car brands and the football organization will then carry on until 2030.

Note that the relationship between FIFA and Hyundai Group’s car brands has been around for two decades. In 2022, Kia and Hyundai supported the FIFA World Cup by providing sustainable mobility. Both brands have likewise supported FIFA events in marketing campaigns and other activities.

With the renewed partnerships, the brands will be working together for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 and the FIFA World Cup 2026 events. A new emphasis is particularly given to developing and growing the women’s football event.  

The continuation of the collaboration also means that Hyundai and Kia will continue to provide seamless transportation services at FIFA’s global events. It is expected that both of the brand’s lineups will be in full force during the said football competitions to enable the mobility of participating teams, event officials, and staff. 

Regarding the renewed partnerships, the President of Hyundai Motor Group Karl Kim said that the company is honored to continue working with FIFA. This likewise reaffirms Hyundai Group’s “commitment to the world of football.”

“As we embark on this renewed collaboration, we look forward to showcasing the capabilities of our mobility solutions and partner brands on a global scale” added Kim. 

As a side note, FIFA likewise gained two new interesting partners, both subsidiaries of the Hyundai Motor Group. This includes the robotics company Boston Dynamics. The said entity is famous for its quadrupedal “dog-like” robots and advanced humanoid bipedal robots. 

The other new partner is Supernal, which focuses on sustainable air transport. In other words, it is developing electric-powered vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. In the future, the said company will be a provider of more environmentally friendlier air transport that will require less space than traditional jet and propeller aircraft.

In the local market, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc., under the leadership of Lee Dong-Wook now sells Hyundai models locally as of 2022.  

The brand’s lineup consists of the new crossovers which includes the Tucson, Santa Fe, and Creta. Under the MPV category, the Korean marque then has the new Staria model.
