The Honda City is a subcompact car which didn’t actually start out as a sedan but rather as a 3-door hatchback in 1981. In 1994 however, that configuration was no longer used and the City became what we know it as today.
The City shares the same platform with the Honda Fit/Jazz, the Mobilio and the Airwave van version of the Jazz. With regards to the City itself, the Honda model has sold more than 3.6 million units since 1996 as such, second-hand units especially here in the Philippines are numerous.
The Honda City is powered by a 1.4 liter inline-4 gasoline engine which can make up to 118 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT transmission.
Inside, the City keeps up to five passengers comfortably with numerous cup holders and even a heater for the higher trim levels. The interior is also equipped with a touchscreen nav-ready system, Am/Fm radio, USB ports and an aux jack. For older models, the City only comes with a 2DIN audio system and of course A/C.
Passengers are kept safe with dual SRS airbags on the front, child safety locks, and newer models come with the anti-lock braking system and EBD.
The Honda City shares its market segment with the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Elantra, Suzuki Ciaz, and the Mazda 2.
Honda Philippines offers car lovers with four variants of the Honda City:
- Honda City 1.5 E MT
- Honda City 1.5 E CVT
- Honda City 1.5 VX NAVI CVT
- Honda City 1.5 VX+ NAVI CVT
