The Porsche Panamera debuted at the Auto Shanghai International Auto Show in 2009. Its name was derived from the Carrera Panamericana in Mexico. The initial release was fitted with a 4.8-liter Biturbo V8 engine. After a year, the German luxury automobile carmaker launched two models equipped with 3.0-liter and a 3.6-liter V6 motor engine.
Its second-generation debuted at a private event in Berlin in 2016. The classy vehicle’s body was lengthened and widened. Its interior received a generous amount of contemporary and sleek updates. In March 2017, a plug-in version was introduced.
In 2018, official Philippines distributor PGA Cars Inc. locally launched a refreshed Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.
Compared to other sedans offered in the market today, the Porsche Panamera elevates its styling by successfully mixing a muscled body with graceful curves and lines. Its side is distinctively sculpted to aid the vehicle’s acclaimed aerodynamic power.
Its front displays the company’s Y shape concept. It is paired with LED main headlights and a four-spot daytime running light. The Panamera Turbo models are upgraded with the Porsche Dynamic Light System.
At the back, all models are affixed with the contemporary light strip with the narrow three-dimensional LED taillights and a four-stop braking lights. It is complemented with an extended spoiler that lessens the sedan’s lift when driving at high speed.
Expect luxury once you step inside its generously sized cabin. Highlights include the Porsche Advanced Cockpit that features a modern center console with Direct Touch control and compact gear selector, leather-wrapped steering wheel, ultra-comfortable front and rear seat cased in premium leather, automatic climate control in four zones, and touchscreen displays with DVD players and headphones for the rear passengers.
The Porsche Panamera is fitted with a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment purposes. Sound is provided by Bose Surround Sound System with 14 loudspeakers strategically placed inside the cabin.
As for safety, it is built with a generous amount of protection for its passengers. It includes the Porsche Stability Management paired with an anti-lock braking system and advanced brake functions, the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake for motorsport, Porsche Dynamic Light System, and the infrared camera.
The Porsche Panamera is fitted with a double-wishbone, aluminum front axle and an aluminum multi-link axle at the rear. Braking power is assisted with an aluminum six-piston monobloc fixed brake front calipers and an aluminum four-piston monobloc fixed brake rear calipers.
The Standard Porsche Panamera and the Porsche Panamera 4 is fitted with a 3.0-liter, V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower. The Porsche Panamera 4S is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter, V6 engine that emits 440 horsepower.
The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid uses a V6 engine with an electric motor. Roughly, this variant can run 16 miles using its electric power with a horsepower of 462. The Porsche Panamera Turbo is fitted with a Biturbo 4.0-liter, V8 engine produces 550 horsepower. Finally, The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid utilizes the turbo’s engine and matches it with an electric motor that guarantees 680 horsepower.
All engines are mated with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
