Despite being the best choice for families because of the size and practicality, most sub-compact cars today aren’t budget-friendly. However, the Kia Rio tells a different story: a great family car that has a reasonable price and many cool features!
So what does this model have? Let's find out about the Kia Rio 2013 with Philkotse.com!
Kia Rio 2013 is available in 2 different variants: the 5-door hatchback and the 4-door sedan. In 2013, an upgraded Kia Rio EX-S sedan was introduced, at the same price as the hatchback.

Designed by the famous car designer Peter Schreyer, it’s no surprise that the Kia Rio 2013 has a distinctive and eye-catching European style.
The front wheels are at the far corner of the car to create a sleek, seamless line from the front to the rear. Despite the overall athletic design, the front of the Kia Rio 2013 still has a family look the same as the Kia Sportage, with the headlights connected to the taper signature “Tiger Grille.”
Kia Motors also gave this car model a larger trunk. However, this makes the rear end longer than the front. As a result, the Rio sedan looks rather disproportional to us.
On the whole, the car gives off a young and athletic vibe, with a wedge-shaped exterior and sharply sculpted lines adorning the sides.

Contrary to the sporty appearance, the insides of the Kia Rio 2013 is very simple and elegant. The main color scheme is a mix of black and beige, emphasizing the classiness of the interior. Plus, both seat rows are designed with enough space for any passenger.
Additionally, the driver’s seat has many features and functions. The instrument panel includes a trip computer, three beautiful cylinders, and LED backlighting. Other features include adjustable steering, side mirrors, and driver’s seat.
Every part of the interior is modern, ergonomic, and operates in harmony. The only downside is the tilt/telescopic steering wheel, making it hard for drivers to find a comfortable driving position.
This sub-compact operates with a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine: double-overhead cams and dual valve timing complete the engine compartment. Certainly, with such a modest machine, the power outputs are not too high with 119 Nm of torque and 87 horsepower.
What makes the Kia Rio 2013 stand out is its powertrain. It can speed up to 90 km/h in a relatively short time and has an average fuel consumption of 12.5 km/L in city traffic. The Kia Rio 2013 is a pretty decent ride for a city car, especially considering it’s a budget car.
Generally, this car model operates without almost no noise at all. Only when you speed up can you hear the slight purr of the engine. We would dare to say the Kia Rio 2013 has noise levels rivaling a gasoline-electric hybrid engine.
The steering wheel is light and responsive, making it easy for users to park and drive in heavy traffic. Plus, the new platform gives the car a rigid and stable structure. As a result, the Kia Rio 2013 didn’t transmit any shock into the cabin when driving on bumpy roads.
All in all, the Kia Rio is a well-engineered car. It still has some minor flaws here and there, but we can overlook them in exchange for a very affordable price.
Apart from a 2013 Rio, you can also find the listings of many Kia Rio models or other Kia cars for sale right on our website in just a split second.
