What to Bring When Buying a Car

Greetings from! You have reached the page for Cars 2002 for sale by certified local car owners and dealers. Before you check out the model you've been looking for, there are a few things you have to consider.

Buying a car is not like in the movies or TV shows that we love to watch where we would walk into the dealership, hand over the cash, and drive away with the vehicle we've always wanted. However, we have to remember that in between stepping into the dealership and driving away, there are some paperwork requirements you'll have to fulfill in between.

So suggests a list of the documents you might want to bring along into a dealership.

    Payment Documents

Not everyone can pay in full cash. As a matter of fact, many car dealerships in the Philippines would prefer you make your payment with some sort of bank document instead of cold hard cash, that way they wouldn't have to worry about so much liquid cash moving around the dealership.

If you're paying a car in full, depending on the dealership, they would accept payments in the form of; Personal Checks, Managers Check or a Cashier's Check with the payment made to the dealership.

As stated above, not everyone can pay in full. Thank goodness then for financing we can now own our dream cars with the power of deferred payments and monthly installments! All you have to do is bring the necessary bank documents and loan documents showing that you have been approved and then the dealership can take it from there.

Car Insurance in the Philippines is not optional. The Government has mandated that you have to acquire insurance for your vehicle before you can have it registered.

Whether it be Third-party Liability (TPL) insurance that will cover for hospitalization; or death benefit for a third party in the event of an accident; or Comprehensive insurance that covers the same as TPL but also adds yourself and damage to the car; it is mandatory before a car can be deemed road-worthy.

    Driver's License

This is a given and we believe doesn't have to be said out loud but yes, a Driver's License is required before you purchase your dream car. Apart from being a good valid ID for the dealership to identify you, they have to know that you actually can legally drive the purchased car out of the lot.

These are the most common documents necessary for making a car purchase in the Philippines. Dealerships may require more documents depending on their own requirements but there are basically what they need to have from you.
