1. Sedan cars in the Philippines: Overview

Sedans are defined as a three-box configured vehicle which comes with a closed body, i.e. a fixed metal roof. Three-box means that there are separate compartments: the engine, the passenger, and the closed trunk located outside.

The aforementioned characteristics were initially exhibited by the 1911 Speedwell, which was technically the first-ever sedan.

Currently, sedans comprise the bulk of vehicles being operated here in the Philippines. For the rest of the world, however, this type of vehicle is seeing a bit of a decline.

Regardless, sedans in the Philippines are still popular due to their affordability and practicality. They aren’t as large and unwieldy as SUVs and some crossovers, and of course, most sedans have better power-to-weight ratios compared to other larger vehicles.
