In 2008, the Audi Q5 was introduced at the Beijing Auto Show and Los Angeles Auto Show. Initially, it was presented fitted with 2.0 TFSI Quattro, 2.0 TDI Quattro, and 3.0 TDI Quattro engine but was offered in more engine options worldwide.
After various facelifts and pleasant upgrades, the second-generation Audi Q5 was unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
Locally, a revamped Audi Q5 was launched in 2019 at the prestigious Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup at the Manila Polo Club. Currently, Audi announced the arrival of the 2021 Audi Q5 worldwide, but no specific date was announced for its Philippine release.
It comes in Metallic tones of Mythos Black, Manhattan Gray, Azores Green, Java Brown, Utopia Blue, Matador Red, Floret Silver, and Daytona Gray Pearl Effect.
The Audi Q5 measures 4,663mm long, 1,893mm wide, and 1,659mm tall. This premium crossover is detailed with the German company’s Q design that effortlessly exudes dominance. Its front is highlighted with a preformed single-frame grille embellished with the automobile giant’s famous logo and paired with sleek LED headlights. Its athletic body features defined wheel arches, strong shoulder lines, and contemporary curves.
Its rear is designed with a pair of modern looking LED rear lights, exhaust tailpipes with a trim strip, and a sensor-controlled baggage space for easy loading and unloading of cargoes.
Finalizing the premium look of the Audi Q5 is a set of 18-inch to 20-inch aluminum wheels that comes in various designs.
The Audi Q5 offers a spacious cabin that can accommodate five fully grown adults courtesy of its extended wheelbase. Notable features include power-adjustable seats in Alcantara or Nappa leather with massage option, ambient lighting, a three-zone air condition system, and a finely-designed dashboard complete with premium driving necessities.
If you opt to take your driving experience to a higher level, you may avail of the Audi Virtual cockpit fitted with a 12.3-inch LCD screen.
An 8.3-inch MMI system offers infotainment in the Audi Q5. It can be paired with a Bang & Olufsen Sound System when upgraded.
As for safety, the premium crossover is built with a generous number of airbags, an anti-lock brake system with EBD and brake assist, immobilizer, stability control, security alarm, ISOFIX tether for child seats, electronic door locks, and more.
The second-generation Audi Q5 utilizes the Audi MLBevo platform. It is fitted with a multi-link suspension at the front and rear. To enhance its overall performance, Audi offers adaptive air suspension as an upgrade.
All variants of the all-wheel-drive Audi Q5 run using a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder V16 engine. It is mated with either a seven-speed dual-clutch or seven-speed S Tronic transmission that produces a maximum horsepower ranging from 190 to 250 with 350 to 400 Newton meters.
