The Nissan Sentra was launched in August 2000 as a replacement for the subcompact Nissan Pulsar. Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. markets the Nissan Sentra under different names in other parts of the world. It is known as the Nissan Sunny in the Middle East, Hongkong, Thailand, Singapore, and Sri Lanka; the Nissan Almera in Brunei and Europe; the Nissan Pulsar in Australia; and the Nissan Sentra in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The second-generation Nissan Sentra was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005. It featured a wider cabin with some minor exterior updates. The third-generation Nissan Sentra was introduced at the 2012 Beijing International Auto Show with a revamped exterior that catered to its Asian consumers. Its current generation was initially previewed at the 18th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.
The Nissan Sentra measures 4,625mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,495mm tall. Amidst the overly designed vehicles on the road, the Nissan Sentra is a refreshing sight as it subtly-designed with timeless elegance. Highlights include a pair of halogen headlights with LED accent lights, LED taillights, a narrow chrome or sports grille depending on the variant, side sill extension on the lower body, integrated LED brake light in the rear spoiler, power outside mirror with heating features, and a powered sliding moonroof.
The Nissan Sentra is supported by 16-inch to 17-inch aluminum five to seven-spoke alloy wheels for a sportier appeal.
The Nissan Sentra offers a spacious cabin packed with amenities. Notable features include six to four-way adjustable seats covered in premium fabric or leather depending on the variant, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a trip computer, Fine Vision gauges with electroluminescent, power door locks, air conditioning system with microfilter, seatback pockets, heating vents, front armrest, 60/40 fold-down rear seats, and more.
The Nissan Sentra is equipped with NissanConnect with Navigation. It comes with a 5.8-inch touchscreen monitor, the Nissan Voice Recognition, a hands-free text messaging assistant with Bluetooth connectivity.
In terms of safety, the Nissan Sentra is built with the Nissan Advanced Airbag System, active brake limited slip, seat belts with pre-tensioners, tire pressure monitoring system, Nissan Vehicle immobilizer system, vehicle security system, and more.
The Nissan Sentra is affixed with an independent strut suspension at the front and a torsion beam axle with a stabilizer bar at the rear. Its braking power is assisted by inverted discs at the front and drum brakes at the rear.
The Nissan Sentra runs using a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mated with either a six-speed manual or an Xtronic CVT transmission. It is guaranteed to deliver 130 horsepower with 174 Newton meters of torque.
