MG 3 Overview

The British carmaker MG Motors UK Limited offered the MG 3 as the company's entry to the small hatchback segment. The latest MG3 is currently in its second generation. The first-generation MG 3 was restricted to the Chinese market. It was until the year 2010 when the carmaker grabbed the opportunity to launch the new MG 3 at the Beijing Auto Show, where it was showcased with a nametag of MG Zero Concept car. The second-gen vehicle was a better version of its China-bound predecessor not just in its design and engine, but in all aspects. Filipino car enthusiasts got to experience the British-made vehicle when the company launched the MG 3 along with the launch of its Birmingham-based showroom. The MG 3 was showcased together with the MG 350 and MG 5. It was initially introduced with a single 1.3L engine option. Later on, the company decided to add a 1.5L engine variant on the MG 5 lineup. Some of the upgrades for the 2018 model include a power sunroof and a set of 16-inch alloy wheels.

MG 3 was offered in five different color options: Red Black, Sky Blue, Blue, Red, and Yellow. Initially, this British hatchback is offered with a sole engine option – the 1.3L mill. The company decided to add a 1.5L gasoline variant that generates 105 hp and 135 Nm of torque.

The wheelbase of the MG 3 measures 2520 mm, which guarantees a spacious interior space. The British hatchback's front fascia features a sleek and stylish grille that very nicely complements the LED headlamps and daytime running lights.

The windshield got a rounded look because of the black-toned A-pillar. The same tone is continued over the B and C pillars. The side profile features well-crafted wheel arches housing the 14-inch steel wheels in the 1.3L variants and 15-inch alloy wheels in the 1.5L trims.

Interior

MG produces vehicles that are affordable and budget-friendly without compromising the interior quality of its cars. The MG 5 is a spacious five-seater stuffed with comforting and cozy seats with fabric wrapping in all variants except for the top trims that are covered with PVC material.

The cabin also features a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat and a 4-way manually adjustable passenger seat. The driver's area of the top variants gets an analog binnacle with leather steering. Two cup holders are also available in the cabin, along with a sunglass storage box.

In terms of boot space, this hatchback comes with 256 liters, which can be increased by the 60/40 split rear seat.

The power from the powerplant is delivered to the front wheels via a five-speed semi-automatic transmission system. This allows the vehicle to go from zero to 100 kilometers per hour mark in 10.9 seconds.

Later on, the car brand decided to add another option: the 1.5 VCT NSE powerplant that pumps out 104 horsepower and 135 Newton-meters of torque.
