The first-generation Mercedes Benz C-Class W202 was revealed in May 1993 as a replacement for the Mercedes Benz W201 or the Mercedes Benz 190. In March 2000, the second-generation C-Class was introduced powered by inline-four V6 gas and inline-four five diesel engines. The second-generation Mercedes Benz C 200 was made available in a 1.8-liter engine paired with an automatic or an optional six-speed manual transmission.
The third-generation Mercedes Benz C-Class was presented at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2007. The refreshed series unveiled a more durable body, lengthened wheelbase, and a design in reference to the Mercedes Benz W221 S-Class and the Mercedes Benz CLS-Class. In 2011 and 2012, the series received a fresh exterior featuring a modern fascia and headlamps.
The current Mercedes Benz C-Class was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in 2014. The series shares the Modular Rear Architecture platform with the Mercedes Benz E-Class and S-Class series.
In the Philippines, the Mercedes Benz C-Class was launched in 2014 through the efforts of the German premium carmaker’s local and authorized distributor, Auto Nation Group.
The Mercedes Benz C 200 measures 4,686mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,442mm tall. Exterior highlights include the sports grille with the German carmaker’s star logo and two matte slots in iridium silver, a pair of razor-sharp LED headlamps, rear bumper with two diffusers, a polished aluminum beltline, side sill panels, spoiler lip on the boot lid, and rear apron. The Mercedes Benz C 200 offers a spacious and luxurious cabin courtesy of its 2,840mm wheelbase. Notable interior features include the ARTICO man-made leather upholstery paired with a glossy wood trim, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel wrapped in black leather, comfortable seats covered in Aberdeen fabric, a well-designed dashboard with nozzle surrounds and black buttons and an instrument cluster with silver chrome trimmings.
The Mercedes Benz C 200 is equipped with the Mercedes Me connect services that include an emergency call system and breakdown management for instant assistance during such incidents. It also comes with the COMAND online that offers navigation and an 8.4-inches central display.
