The BAIC BJ20 started only as a concept car in China around 2015. It was first revealed at the prestigious Shanghai Auto Show. The BJ20 was categorized as a crossover utility vehicle and had a very close resemblance to the $100,000 Grand Wagoneer offered by Jeep.
After a year of being stranded on the concept car aisle, the BJ20 was mass-produced just one year later in 2016. Production started in small batches in the company’s new Zhenjiang factory. By 2020, the company had approximately 300,000 units of the BJ20 before they decided to export it to the Philippines.
The BJ20 exterior gives off the vibes that any luxurious crossover would have. It’s stylish, bulky, and has fine-looking details that make all the difference. It also comes with tons of helpful features that make any driving experience smoother, safer, and more convenient.
There are fog lights at the front for better visibility. There is also a power-adjustable rearview mirror for convenience. Other useful features you can look forward to are the rain-sensing windshield wipers and adjustable headlights. There are also standard car features like a remote fuel lid opener, roof rails for ease of carrying supplies, and an integrated antenna.
The BJ20 comes with a luxe-looking interior with a hint of adventure. It is also offered in other trims. But if you’re not looking for ultra-luxurious seats, the base BJ20 is more than enough to keep you comfy.
The cabin is mostly black with some nice touches of red in particular areas for that nice touch of premium and escapade. You’ll find that the panoramic sunroof makes the car look more spacious once opened. It comes with everyone’s favorite features - cup holders and an infotainment screen. However, one noticeable con to this is how the dashboard is quite prone to fingerprints and dust.
As for safety features, the BJ20 has more than enough equipment pieces to keep you and your whole family entertained. Inside, you’ll find the 10.1-inch infotainment system. This supports HDMI connections, Bluetooth as well as USBs.There is also a smartphone and radio capability, so there are endless options for you.
As for safety features, the BJ20 offers airbags for both the driver and the passenger seats. There are also side airbags at the front seat and a child safety lock to make sure your kids are always kept safe at the back. Other safety specs include ABS, brake assist, and a crash sensor.
The 2020 BAIC BJ20 is a mid-sized CUV that can accommodate up to five passengers with some personal space. This is all thanks to its massive size and chassis underneath. The BJ20’s wheelbase alone is at 2670 mm. It has a ground clearance of up to 2215 mm and has a length of 4451 mm. The BJ20 stands 1700 mm tall with a width of 1845 mm. There are five doors for ease of accessibility. It comes ready to please 18-inch R18 alloy wheels and radial tires. For optimal braking, the BJ20 is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels. Its calipers come in an attractive red color that matches the interior fitting.
The 2020 BJ20 model comes with a 1.5L turbocharged inline-four power mill. Thanks to this choice of engine, the BJ20 is capable of putting out 47 hp and up to 210 Nm of torque. These digits aren’t the highest. But they’re fit for most of the driving adventures you could think of in the Philippines.
The BJ20 is driven by the two front wheels and has a CVT. This may not give you a lot of control in steep hills, but it should be fine on most driving terrains. As for its fuel consumption, you can look forward to 14.5 km/l.
The price of the BAIC BJ20 in the Philippines starts at ₱1,148,000 for the entry-level Standard 1.5 CVT, while the top-of-the-line BAIC BJ20 Luxury 1.5 CVT is priced at ₱1,288,000. For more details, please refer to our 2024 BAIC BJ20 price list as follows:
