    I. BMW M3 in the Philippines: Overview

BMW has a famous tag-line. They say that when you drive a BMW, you are driving the ‘Ultimate Driving Machine”. The BMW M3 is the epitome of driving perfection.

The visceral performance offered by every model since its inception is matched only by the sheer craftsmanship and quality brought forth by BMW with every M3 they produce.

    BMW M3 on the Road

BMW M3 is the Ultimate Driving Machine

Once you enter the BMW M3 you will find that it is very similar to the pedestrian BMW 3 series sedans, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling that a bad thing. Every BMW leaves the production plant with levels of quality that adheres to the customer’s expectations of quality and refinement.

Inside the M3 you will find logically placed controls which are tilted ever so slightly towards the driver. This further solidifies the BMW M3’s focus on being a driver’s car, the ultimate driving machine.

    BMW M3 front fascia

BMW M3 strikes a powerful chord and brings a presence unlike any other

BMW also prides itself with a plethora of interior options available, from steel and metallic to wood and carbon fiber, leather or fabric, whatever the driver needs the interior to be to further inspire the ultimate drive.

The Exterior of the M3 evokes more drama than the interior. It evokes design languages from previous BMW M3 models to look back on the heritage of what makes the BMW cars such an iconic machine and combines them with modern design cues to bring forth the brand into the future.

The signature kidney grill is flanked by a more aggressive looking front headlamp design and the hood features power bulges to give the standard passe-by a big clue of what lies beneath.

With large front and rear fender to accommodate the huge 19-inch tires, to the specially designed front and rear aerodynamic body kits that channel air around the body to minimize drag, the BMW M3 strikes a powerful chord and brings forth a presence unlike any other.

    BMW M3 Interior

The BMW M3 controls are driver-centric

No BMW M3 can be worthy of the badge if it doesn’t have the performance to back-up the looks. Under the hood lies the award-winning BMW S55 3 liter twin-scroll turbocharged engine that puts out 431 hp and 550Nm of torque.

It reaches 100km/h from a standstill at a neck-snapping 4 second flat and can go all the way to 24km/h. Transmission options were a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission however the sole variant available in the Philipines is the dual-clutch variant.

    BMW M3 on the Track

The BMW M3 can go from 0 to 100kph in 4 seconds flat

Driving the BMW M3 2020 you can instantly sense the pure, performance that only the M badge can provide. The engine is tuned for immediate acceleration and thanks to the twin-scroll turbo, lag is non-existent.

The suspension is understandably harsh given the performance aspirations of the sport sedan, however rough this setup may be, it does pay immense dividends on the track and when carving down windy roads on a mountain pass.

No other sports sedan can give you this much level of confidence while taking on a curve at triple-digit speeds. Thanks to BMWs suite of safety features and advanced stability controls you can rest assured you will be fairly warned if you start to have too much fun.

    BMW M3 rear view

No other sedan can give you this much confidence while taking on a curve at triple-digit speeds

Don’t get this car wrong though, apart from the stratospheric price tag, mere mortals should not be allowed behind the wheel of an M3 if you are not fully committed to the pure and raw driving experience this can offer. Handle with care.

The BMW M3 is not your ordinary car. It can seat your family in relative comfort, has premium seats and has luggage space to boot but this is a driver’s car through and through. If you can afford the BMW M3, then be ready to enjoy the purest form of driving out there. This really is the Ultimate Driving Machine.

    V. About BMW Philippines

Known fully as Bayerische Motoren Werke, BMW was formed back in 1916 but its roots can be traced back to 1913. Initially, they made aircraft engines and by the end of World War I, the company managed to stay afloat by producing farm equipment, motorcycle engines, and many more household items. In 1923, they then made their first-ever Motorcycle, the BMW R 32.

BMW didn’t start making cars until the 1930’s and in 1952, they made the famous BMW 501 Luxury Saloon. It wasn’t until 1962 that the German company was associated with sporty vehicles like the BMW 700.

Primarily, BMW was known for making sporty, rear-wheel-drive cars. However, in 2014, they made the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer MPV, their very first front-wheel-drive vehicle.

Here in the Philippines, BMW vehicles are sold by the SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp and currently, they have eight dealerships spread around the country.

Currently, BMW Philippines’ line-up consists of the X-series of SUVs, the M series of performance vehicles, and the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 series of vehicles. For more information about BMW’s models, check out the review page dedicated to their models.
