The 2023 Hyundai Stargazer is a front-wheel-drive, seven-seater MPV. For the Philippine market, it has three variants. The entry-level GL is priced at 1,068,000. The midspec GLS meanwhile, has a price tag of Php 1,288,000. Lastly, the top-spec GLS Premium is currently available for Php 1,218,000.

Size-wise, the Hyundai Stargazer is 4,460mm long, 1,780mm wide, and 1,695mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,780mm, and a ground clearance of 185mm.

Under the hood of the Philippine-spec Stargazer is a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making up to 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. All trims use Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission.

Locally, the 2023 Hyundai Stargazer competes against the likes of the Toyota Avanza, Mitsubishi Xpander, Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Livina, among others.

The all-new Hyundai Stargazer was officially launched in the local market on October 19, 2022. Its global debut happened earlier back in August 2022, at the 29th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.

As of its local launch, the Stargazer has three variants available locally.

The all-new Stargazer borrows several styling cues from the larger Staria. And depending on the trim, it comes with LED exterior lighting, electronic folding side mirrors, automatic light control, and a set of 16-inch wheels.

Inside the 2023 Stargazer are seats for seven occupants. Higher-spec trims come with leatherette seats, leather-wrapped steering wheels, a digital gauge cluster, a console box, seat back pockets, among others.

All three trims come standard with a 60:40 split folding second row, a 50:50 split folding third row, and room lamp, and an overhead console.

Other driving features present on this Hyundai model includes a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a push-to-start button, remote engine starting, and plenty of USB charging ports.

Tech and safety

Present on both the top-spec GLS Premium and GLS is an eight-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This headunit is then linked to a six-piece speaker system. A wireless charging pad is also available for the top-spec GLS Premium variant.

All variants come with dual-front airbags, and anti-lock braking. The GLS and GLS Premium in turn, gets the addition of stability control, rear view monitor, rear parking sensors, and hill-start assist.

Only the GLS Premium comes with side and curtain airbags, blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear-cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, lake keeping assist, driver attention warning, forward collision avoidance assist, tire pressure monitoring, lane following assist, etc.

The Hyundai Stargazer utilizes the Hyundai-Kia K2 platform which it shares with the Creta crossover

It then assumes a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. Handling suspension for this model is a MacPherson strut type for the front, and a torsion beam-type suspension for the rear. All trims then get a disc front brake, a drum rear brake, and a hand-operated parking brake.

Under the hood of all three locally available Stargazer variants is a 1.5-liter engine paired to Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission. Power is then fed to its front wheels.

With this configuration, it can make up to 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque.

The Hyundai Stargazer is one of the better equipped MPVs when it comes to driver assist features. It also has a competent and relatively modern entertainment system with wireless connectivity, and wireless charging capabilities. Most similarly sized MPVs available locally lacks those two features.

-Plenty of features
-Comprehensive safety kit

-High starting price
