The Fiat 124 Spider was based on the Fiat 124 Sport Spider that reigned from 1966 to 1981. The reference model debuted at the 1966 Turin Auto Show. It was a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle powered by a four-cylinder engine.
In 2015, the iconic Italian company in partnership with Mazda unveiled the resurrected Fiat 124 Spider at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It shares its top mechanism, interior, and platform with the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
In November 2019, the Fiat 124 Spider was made available in the Philippines through a grand launch by Petromax Enterprise.
