Launch

The Aston Martin Rapide was initially previewed as a concept car in the 2006 North American International Auto Show. In 2009, the production version was presented at the International Motor Show Germany. It is based on the Aston Martin DB9 and utilizes the British premium carmaker’s VH platform. Its name was derived from the discontinued four-seater, five-door Lagonda Rapide.

After successful years of the first series, the Aston Martin Rapide S was unveiled worldwide in 2013 equipped with premium exterior and interior improvements. In 2018, Aston Martin announced that they are producing an all-electric version named Aston Martin Rapide E.

Exterior

The Aston Martin Rapide measures 5,020mm long, 2,140mm wide, and 1,360mm tall with a 2,989mm wheelbase. It bears the “Golden Ratio” proportion detailed with contemporary lines and dramatic curves that extends from the front up to its gorgeous back. Other highlights include the wide aluminum grille, dual-xenon headlights with side LED lights and direction indicators, an upswept tailgate, aerodynamic rear diffuser, side repeaters, and a pair of striking LED tail lights.

Interior

The luxury extends inside the cabin of the Aston Martin Rapide as it is fitted with top of the line materials four lucky fully grown adults will adore. Notable features include lush grain leather interior, electrical powered seats adjustable in three positions with a heating system, automatic temperature control, a multi-function steering wheel, electroluminescent organic display, a trip computer, a 6.5 LCD screen, map-reading LED lights, and a heated screen at the rear.

Technology & Safety Features

The Aston Martin Rapide is equipped with a hard disk drive satellite navigation and an AMi III infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity. Sound is provided by Bang & Olufsen BeoSound audio system.

Safety is assured as it is fitted with a generous number of airbags, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, security alarm, immobiliser, and more.

Platform & Chassis

The Aston Martin Rapide is built using a bonded and extruded aluminum body in the VH platform. It utilized an independent double-wishbone suspension at the front and rear independent double wishbones at the rear.

Engine & Drivetrain

The Aston Martin Rapide is a front mid-mounted engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car. It is powered by a 5,935cc 48 valve, all-alloy V12 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is guaranteed to produce 552 horsepower with 630 Newton meters.
