It has been 10 years since Subaru debuted the BRZ in a joint partnership with Toyota. To commemorate the nameplate’s 10th anniversary, the Japanese marque launched a limited edition model of its sports car.
10th Anniversary of the Subaru-Toyota sports car
The limited edition package covers cosmetic changes only. Exterior-wise, the 18-inch multi-spoke wheels get a matte black paint, replacing the matte dark gray metallic finish. Also earning a blacked-out treatment are the retractable side mirrors and the rear BRZ emblem.
One can say that the exclusivity is more prominent inside as the red stitching has been removed in favor of blue stitching. Meanwhile, the Sports/Snow mode switch, Track mode switch, heater control dial, and push engine switch received a darker finish. To mark the milestone, a ‘10th Anniversary’ badge is affixed on the doors and the back glass.
Subaru BRZ 10-year special
As said earlier, the limited edition Subaru BRZ only gets aesthetic tweaks. This means that the model is still powered by a 2.4-liter boxer-4 engine capable of generating 228 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque. It is available in either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
The blue trims commemorate the milestone
The Subaru BRZ special edition is being offered in Japan only which is limited to 200 units only. It is still unclear whether the company will allocate some units to global markets. But you can get the sports car in its stock form locally for a new starting price of Php 2,519,000 after Subaru Philippines recently gave the model a price bump.
The second-gen model hosts the 10th-anniversary celebration
If you are a fan of the BRZ’s Toyota sibling, the GR86 is available with its version of a 10th-anniversary special edition in Japan as well. While the Toyota sports car hasn’t officially arrived in the local lineup, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recently previewed the PH-spec 2023 GR86 at the Clark International Speedway.
