Isuzu has revealed its D-Max Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). It is the brand’s first-ever fully electric pickup truck and it is scheduled to debut at the upcoming 45th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) in Thailand.
Isuzu D-Max BEV (prototype)
This is a huge leap for the truck manufacturer since for the majority of its history, it has been known as a diesel engine specialist. This is also exciting news for the global pick-up truck market since the D-Max BEV is a real production model that will be sold in select regions in Europe by 2025.
It will then roll out to the UK, Australia, and Thailand eventually. With that said, there might be a chance that the BEV truck could make its way to other ASEAN regions, including the Philippines’ highly competitive pickup truck segment, sometime in the future
Appearance-wise, the D-Max BEV’s non-production prototype (pictured above) gets the same silhouette as the regular internal combustion model. Its front end though, sports a new closed-off look which highlights the fact that it is an EV.
Its grille section is mostly closed off, save for some small vents on the truck’s recognizable double bar face design. These, along with its LED headlamp clusters are then decorated with blue-colored bits.

For its powertrain, Isuzu shared that the D-Max BEV utilizes a 53-horsepower front motor and a 120-horsepower rear motor. These motors are paired with a 66.9kWh lithium-ion battery and a full-time 4x4 system.
In total, the EV Isuzu truck can dish out 174 horsepower and 352 Nm of torque. According to the brand, it also has a maximum payload capacity of 1,000 kg and a maximum towing capacity of up to 3.5 tons.
For now, no range figures or interior details and features have been shared by Isuzu. We are certain though, that more information about the Isuzu D-Max BEV will be revealed during its launch at BIMS, so stay tuned for that here on Philkotse.
