Honda Cars PH earns three top awards for CSR programs

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) was honored three times at the 5th Driven to Serve Awards by the Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists (SPMJ), for the automaker’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.

The awards are a reflection of the Japanese marque’s efforts in enriching the lives of Filipinos even when faced with challenges such as the global health crisis. See the list of awards for each project:

  • Bantay Baterya and Bantay Langis (Environment) – Gold Award
  • Assistance to Medical Frontliners during the pandemic (COVID-19 Response) – Silver Award
  • Teen Smart: Road Safety for Teens (Road Safety) – Silver Award

In an effort to reduce land and water pollution, HCPI has been part of the Bantay Baterya program since 2006. Along with its partners such as the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation and Motolite Marketing Corporation, HCPI recycled 7,028 pieces of used lead-acid batteries worth Php 1,820,453. Moreover, the Bantay Langis program collected and recycled 16,104 liters of used oil.

Meanwhile, HCPI shows that it is one with the country through its COVID-19 response efforts. Some of these include the donation drives to hospitals in Laguna, the donation of various medical and educational equipment, and the car lend-outs to frontliners. Special deals were also offered to help Filipinos get back on their feet amid the disruptions brought by the pandemic.

Honda continues to give back to the Filipino communities

As for the Teen Smart: Road Safety for Teens, the car brand has been providing practical road safety tips such as education on traffic rules and regulations to all public senior high school students in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. This is a program that the HCPI started in 2004, and has expanded in collaboration with different partners since then.

“We extend our gratitude to Mr. Butch Gamboa, Ms. Pinky Colmenares, and all the SPMJ committee for recognizing Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. We are also sincerely encouraged by the support of our program partners for so many years that we have been implementing the programs with them,” said HCPI President Mr. Masahiko Nakamura.
