Omoda reaches over 130,000 units in cumulative export sales this year

This feat was achieved in just a year.

Omoda has been posting remarkable sales figures since its introduction in October 2022. The Chinese automaker’s latest sales feat is exporting 12,842 units in the month of October 2023 alone.

The new units add up to Omoda’s cumulative export sales of over 130,000 units. The brand previously hit the 100,000 sales mark in less than a year. The automaker continues to attract young and trendy buyers. O in Omoda indicates surprise, positivity, and energy, as well as the symbol of Oxygen (a necessary element of life). Meanwhile, “Moda”, patterned after the word modern, means modern and fashionable.

The sales growth is led by the brand’s compact crossover model, the Omoda 5. Omoda has been expanding its network to more markets including the ASEAN region. The first batch of the crossover has already made its way to the Philippines in international combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) forms.

The PH-spec Omoda 5 will be available in the entry-level 1.5-liter turbo, the top-spec 1.5-liter turbo, the Omoda 5 EV, and the Omoda 5 EV Extended Range.

According to the company, the Omoda 5 EV Extended Range is capable of running up to 450 km on a single charge. That is about 150 km more than the standard model. The EV gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates 201 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

Sales in the Philippines will start early next year

Omoda also ensures top-notch safety for prospective buyers of the said crossover with a five-star Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) safety rating. It boasts a wide array of safety bits such as a comprehensive driver assistance system (ADAS), offering autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and emergency lane-keeping system, among others.

Omoda Philippines is expected to contribute to the brand’s fast-growing sales once local sales by early 2024. But first, the company is said to hold a soft launch by the end of 2023.
