The LTO said that there are currently around 24.7 million delinquent motor vehicles that have an expired registration, which represents about 65 percent of all the vehicles in the Philippines. As such, the LTO is targeting the registration of as many delinquent owners to renew the expired registration of their respective vehicles.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II ordered all Regional Directors and District Office heads to conduct an information drive concerning the No Registration, No Travel policy. Mendoza believes that the information drive will encourage delinquent vehicle owners to renew the registration of their motor vehicles.

Mendoza is giving a free hand to the local LTO officials in crafting their respective information drive strategies to determine the appropriate messaging in their respective localities.

Mendoza also reminded the local LTO officials to utilize the different social media platforms for their respective information drives about the No Registration, No Travel policy. This is to reach as many people as possible, particularly motor vehicle owners.

The LTO Chief added that the information drive via social media will complement the agency’s aggressive operations on the ground. The renewal of registration is also seen as one of the ways to check the roadworthiness of vehicles.

Currently, several LTO Regional Offices and District Offices have started intensifying the operations on “No Registration, No Travel”, among them are the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and the National Capital Region.

Last December 2023, the LTO reported that 4,864 motor vehicles were apprehended in connection to the No Registration, No Travel policy. A total of 251 delinquent motor vehicles were apprehended in Metro Manila.
