LTO releases renewal dates of licenses expired from April to Sept 2023

Failure to renew within the said dates means an expired license.

The Land Transportation Philippines (LTO) reports that it has secured enough supply of plastic cards to address the printing of driver licenses that have expired from April 1, 2023, all the way to September 30, 2023.

The LTO says it now has enough plastic cards

One big caveat to this though, is that the agency cannot do this in one go. So to facilitate the printing of proper driver’s licenses in plastic card form, renewals will be done in batches with schedules depending on when one’s license has expired. Of note, this directive has already been cascaded to all LTO regional directors as of October 4, 2023.

For your convenience, here are the renewal schedules for driver's licenses that expired from April 2023 to September 2023:

  • For Driver’s License that expired from April 1 to 30, the scheduled renewal dates are from October 6 to 31, 2023;
  • For Driver’s License that expired from May 1 to 31, 2023, the scheduled renewal dates are from November 1 to 30, 2023;
  • For Driver’s License that expired from June 1 to 30, 2023, the scheduled renewal dates are from December 1 to 31, 2023;
  • For Driver’s License that expired from July 1 to 31, 2023, the scheduled renewal dates are from January 1 to 31, 2024;
  • For Driver’s License that expired from August 1 to 31, 2023, the scheduled renewal dates are from February 1 to 29, 2024;
  • For Driver’s License that expired from September 1 to 30,  2023, the scheduled renewal dates are from March 1 to 31, 2024.

According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II, it was arranged this way in order to avoid crowing and congestion at LTO offices around the country. Doing this in tranches will also ensure a system that is fast and comfortable for clients.

For those who have already renewed their licenses and have already received paper driver’s licenses, Mendoza stated that all they need to do is to visit the licensing office. They will then need to present their receipt of payment for the issuance of a plastic driver’s license.

Those issued with paper licenses may get their plastic cards at LTO licensing offices. Just present the receipt

Remember that the LTO previously extended the expiration dates of driver's licenses until April 2, 2024. This covered driver’s licenses that have expired since April 3, 2023. According to Mendoza however, this has been superseded since the agency can now print plastic cards.

Instead, licensees who fail to file for renewals within the indicated timeframes listed above will automatically have their driver’s licenses considered expired. Mendoza further added that the processing for renewals will only take around 15 minutes. It’s a relatively quick procedure, the government official says.
