Jetour Auto Philippines has officially previewed the T2 SUV. It is set to enter the local midsize segment with a starting price of Php 2,498,000 and it promises to be an off-road capable ride that’s filled to the brim with features and safety tech.

Of note, this is Jetour’s first-ever body-on-frame SUV. It previously went on sale in China back in September 2023 and it is also quite a vehicle to look at thanks to the involvement of former Porsche designer Hakan Saracoglu.

Up front, the T2 gets an assertive boxy look filled with angular details like a tough-looking front bumper, a pair of box-shaped LED headlamp clusters, and a wide grille. The latter is decorated with a black trim piece that bears the Jetour badge.

From the side, what one will notice immediately are the SUV’s beefy black fender flares. These are complemented by hefty-looking black stepboards. From this angle, one can also see that it goes hard on the boxy theme with a flat roof, and a relatively flat hood and rear end.

Speaking of the rear, the SUV gets a pair of vertical taillights. This goes along with a beefy black rear bumper and a rear-mounted spare tire holder which also comes in a boxy enclosure.

From looking at the vehicle alone, its other exterior features include power-folding side mirrors, roof racks, and a deployable roof access ladder. Completing its looks is a set of 20-inch black alloy wheels.

The cockpit of the Jetour T2 meanwhile is laden with tech. Serving as its central infotainment display is a 15.6-inch tablet-style screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver meanwhile, is provided with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

At the most, up to five can be seated inside the T2. All are kept cool and comfortable by an automatic air-conditioning system, while the seats themselves are wrapped in leather. The second-row seats get 60:40 split-folding, but even when full, the trunk has a generous amount of space for cargo.

Under the hood, the Jetour T2 gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engine that can generate up to 250 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. The engine is then paired with a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission and a 4WD system. The latter will be managed by the brand’s XWD Intelligent Switch which offers a total of seven drive modes.

Safety for the ride is then handled by an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). For now, the full spec sheet for this ride is yet to be shared, but as mentioned, the Jetour T2 will start at Php 2,498,000 million. This already includes a 1 million or six-year vehicle warranty, whichever comes first, as well as a 10-year engine warranty.

Previewed alongside the Jetour T2 is the Jetour Dashing Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). This model gets the same exterior styling as the internal combustion version, but it features a new hybrid dual-electric powertrain. According to the brand, this hybrid’s “i-DM Intelligent Drive” allows the Dashing PHEV to go from zero to 100 km/h in just seven seconds. It also has an all-electric range of 100 km.

The full specs list was not given for the Philippine-spec Dashing PHEV, but the global version is relatively peppy with its total system output of 321 hp and 545 Nm of torque.

Price-wise, the Dashing PHEV will start at Php 1,950,000 and it will have the same warranty packages as the T2 and other locally available Jetour models.

Interestingly, Jetour Auto PH already sold the first batch of T2 SUVs numbering just under a hundred. This indicates a strong interest in the midsize ride.

More updates on these two new Jetour rides will come out as they launch at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). So if you’re keen to get more details about these rides, keep it here on Philkotse
