A timely turnover amid the inclement weather.

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has had a timely turnover of 16 Traviz units to the 2nd District of Oriental Mindoro. The said units are tasked to become rescue vehicles in the area.

Present in the turnover ceremony were Hon. Alfonso Umali Jr., Representative of the 2nd District of Oriental Mindoro; Hon. Jean Paulo Umali, Board Member; Hon. Aristeo Baldos, Mayor of Pinamalayan; and Hon. Ferdinand Maliwanag, Mayor of Mansalay.

“It is our honor to be part of this program to assist in helping our kababayans here in Mindoro, especially during this rainy season, when there are a lot of Typhoons and disaster,” said IPC President Tetsuya said in a recorded message. He wasn’t able to make the ceremony due to the inclement weather.

The Isuzu Traviz units acquired by the LGU have the utility van configuration, providing a cabin that can aid rescue missions. Powering the vehicle is a 2.5-liter 4JA1 Blue Power diesel engine capable of generating 77 horsepower and 177 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard.

The Traviz will ensure safety in the area

One of the factors that could further strengthen the LGU’s rescue missions is the light commercial vehicle’s (LCV) fuel efficiency. During the One Full Tank Challenge conducted by IPC and the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) last year, the Traviz clocked a total of 1,063 km in one full tank. This translates to a fuel economy of 21.3 km/l.

The new units are a follow-up to a previous turnover in the area, which will be distributed to 136 barangays in the province. It is part of the LGU’s campaign to modernize and strengthen its rescue efforts.

“We trust Isuzu Traviz due to its mobility – dahil sa reliability, matibay, at sigurado tayo,” said Umali.

Aside from Oriental Mindoro, the Isuzu Traviz is also the choice in Zamboanga City. Last year, the city government of Zamboanga received 98 Traviz units as emergency response vehicles.
